Sky News presenter Kay Burley was corrected by a pair of Ukrainian refugees who had fled to Dublin to escape their war-torn home country after making a huge geographical mistake on the news broadcast.
Kay Burley was corrected by Ukrainian refugees for her geographic blunder on Sky News today.
The presenter was interviewing Allada and Anastasia from Kharkiv to discuss fleeing their hometown, which is currently one of Russia’s target cities, and ending up in Dublin, Ireland “by accident”.
During their conversation, the two men explained how difficult it was – and still is – for the people of Kharkiv.
“As you know, civilians are dying every day. Our families who remained in Kharkiv are hiding in bomb shelters and metro stations to avoid Russian rockets and bombs,” Allada told Kay during their maintenance.

The two men found themselves “stranded” in Poland after fleeing Ukraine and say they ended up in Dublin “by accident”.
After the interview, Kay thanked the two guests for talking to her, before making a huge geographical mistake – referring to Dubliners as British, which the interviewees quickly corrected her.
“I’m so happy you’re safe and what a terrible journey you’ve had, but I hope you can start building a new life in Dublin knowing that the British people are completely behind you,” Kay said.

Allada then replied and remarked that it was the Irish people who had helped them: “We are very grateful to the Irish people for all the kindness and hospitality with which they treat us and our Irish family who welcome us,
“In this family, we are surrounded with care and attention. We could feel the family warmth and we really appreciate it.”
Viewers tuned into the news show were quick to point out Kay’s mistake.
“Wow, this is very embarrassing… The British media institution doesn’t know where or what Britain really is and is then corrected by Ukrainian children going to school @SkyNews @KayBurley @rtenews“, wrote one of them.
A second added: “Ireland is not Britain, Kay, in the same way that Britain is not France.”
” @KayBurley Suffice to say that she hopes they can build a new life in Dublin knowing that the Senegalese people are completely behind them. When is his birthday? Fund him a card!” shared a third.
